In the course of expanding the current facility's capacities, it was decided to cover the passage between the existing steel halls. Factors that made a simple and generally straightforward design task "interesting" were primarily the open construction system (due to its purpose), which requires a more careful analysis of external influences (mainly wind and seismic effects), the height of the primary frames (approximately 11m at the ridge), and the delicate position of the structure (nested between existing and planned future buildings).
The structure is stiffened through the framing action of the two-hinged main frames and bracing systems in the roof and wall planes. The main frames stand on a combination of strip foundations and existing as well as new spread footings. For the roofing and wall cladding, trapezoidal steel sheets have been chosen. Roof purlins are cold-formed Z-profiles that had to be slightly stronger due to the large gable overhangs. Wall girts are hot-rolled U-profiles.
